Alberta Turner-Kelley, Founder



 

Alberta Turner-Kelley has a career spanning over 30 years working in various leadership capacities for the City of Chicago and Chicago Public Schools.

In 2003, Mrs. Kelley accepted a position as Guidance Counselor at Wendell Philips Academy High School where she embarked on her passion in counseling.  She worked in this position until her retirement in 2009.   In addition to her counseling role, Alberta served for 7 years as the liaison to Educational Support for students in Temporary Living Situations, formally known as the Homeless Education Program.

 Alberta previously served as administrator for the Department of Consumer Services,  Streets and Sanitation for the City of Chicago, and as assistant director for the Department of Purchasing and Contracts for the Chicago Public Schools.

Other notable accomplishments include achieving the Recognized ASCA Model Program (RAMP) counseling certification for Wendell Phillips Counseling Department in 2008.

Mrs. Kelley holds a Bachelors Degree in Sociology from Northern Illinois University, a Masters of Science in Guidance and Counseling from Chicago State University, and a Type 73 Certification with the State of Illinois. She is also a member of the American School Counselor Association and the Illinois Counseling Association.
